Rupay ko Pehchano
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) as part of its campaign "Rupay ko Pehchano", has launched Videos and Smartphone application on security features of currency notes in a ceremony held on 22nd December 2015. The Videos and Smartphone application are aimed at enhancing public awareness and understanding of the Pakistani currency notes' security features thus enabling the general public to easily differentiate between the genuine and fake notes. A total of 5 videos have been developed, one each for Rs. 5000, Rs. 1000, Rs. 500, and one for Rs. 100, 75, 50, 20 & 10 and the fifth highlights the security features of all the currency notes in circulation. The Smartphone application, downloadable from both Apple and Android platforms, gives information on security features of currency notes both in descriptive and pictorial forms. This is one of the initiate that SBP has taken to check counterfeiting and maintaining the integrity of our currency notes.
The Governor SBP, Mr. Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, while launching the videos and Smartphone application said that the Smartphone application will enable millions of Smartphone users in the country to have complete knowledge about security features of currency notes on their mobile phones. Similarly, the videos will be a major tool for enhancing public awareness.
