Q. What is the profit calculation mechanism?

The maturity of the product ranges from 1 year to 10 years. Profit will be paid at maturity (along with principal) on non-cumulative basis.

For example: If a certificate of Rs.500,000 is issued for 3 years, it will generate a profit of Rs.172,500 as per following calculation:

Profit Amount

11.00 %

500,000 X 11.00%

11.50 %

500,000 X 11.50 %

12.00 %

500,000 X 12.00 %

Total profit of Rs.172,500 plus principal of Rs.500,000 will translate into a total sum of Rs.672,500 payable to the customer on maturity, less Zakat and withholding tax as per the rules and regulations.
In case the profit rates are revised, the revised rates will be applicable only on fresh issuance. Profit rates for already issued TDRs will remain unchanged till the holding period of the certificate.
